10 years ago, while working a job that I hated, I nervously sat in front of my computer webcam in my room and posted my first-ever talking video announcement to my Facebook. Shortly after, I opened up a YouTube channel and posted what became my first viral video: “Tam’s Arabic Eye”… the tutorial that put me on the map. #10yearslater Today I own the #1 most subscribed-to LIVE online hair and makeup tutorial platform in the world, and I hold the world’s #1 LARGEST hands-on master class tours with sold out venues across the globe, all while working on expanding the DressYourFace empire with new products, collaborations, and my own brand (after nearly 5 years of brainstorming and development!) coming soon iA 🙏🏽🙌🏽 To whoever needs to hear this today as we enter a new decade: I just want to tell you that if you have an idea, a dream, a desire to do something… just START. You don’t need a complete A to Z plan with everything figured out. Things change. The journey will evolve, YOU will evolve, and maybe even change your mind a million times and thats ok because that’s a part of it! I started off as a YouTube guru teaching my own makeup and hair on camera, but soon I found myself feeling unfulfilled and was longing for more- and my viewers were longing for more. A REAL education and full length classes… I wanted to create something that can really elevate makeup artistry on a larger level. And then one day, I finally found my calling and I created my OWN platform on my OWN terms and I truly embraced and OWNED what I was meant to become. Sometimes things don’t go as originally planned. But that’s because something better is waiting for you. And if you don’t start now, you’ll never know what that “something” is. Farewell to the incredible decade of dreams, lessons, and hard work behind us, and cheers to a greater decade of purpose, fulfillment, and growth ahead 🙏🏽🥰

Drop a “YES” below if you’re excited to grow with me in 2020👇MY FIRST POST OF 2020! Happy New Year! 2010: At the beginning of the decade I decided to turn down my corporate job offers after graduating from university and skipped the graduation ceremony to go and live as a monk! That 3 year journey saw me live and travel across India, London and Europe meditating, studying and sharing ancient wisdom. This decade for me was about self exploration, self confidence and service. In 2013, I was lost, confused and hit the lowest point. I’d left the ashram and didn’t know what I was going to do. It took me 10 years to start living my purpose and the last 4 years have been the best years of my life – thanks to each and every single one of you! I don’t take any of you for granted. My only desire is to serve, to make a difference and to help you live more meaningful, purposeful lives. That is my purpose. Yes I look different but my intention, mindset and purpose is the same. Dear 2019, Thank you so much for all the memories, moments and people you brought into my life. I can’t thank you enough for the wonderful relationships that were formed this year and the amazing opportunities you brought me for internal and purpose growth. Thank you for humbling me and helping me learn. Thank you for all the rejections, failures and mistakes that have helped me focus more on my inner practice and self. I’m not perfect and don’t have everything figured out but you showed me a lot of compassion and empathy. Thank you for not judging me. 2020: My intention for the next decade is to continue to use everything I have in the service of others. To help make a difference. To continue to improve myself so that I can be better for me and for you. I promise to bring you so much innovation through all my creative expression! I’ve got SO many exciting ideas that I can’t wait to bring to life! Thanks for being on this journey with me! Let’s keep making wisdom go viral! This is just the beginning. I could not do it without you! With love and gratitude, Jay

Tranformations: Lilly Singh aka iiSuperWomanii

On the left, me at the beginning at the decade in 2010, graduating from York University with no idea what to do next. On the right, me at the end of the decade, on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter discussing my brand new late night talk show. As you scroll through, you’ll see a few meaningful moments from the past decade including two world tours, a best selling book, meeting some of my biggest heroes, billboards, monetary gains, achievements and most importantly, helping educate thousands of girls in India, Ecuador and Kenya. I’m not posting about this to be egotistical, although don’t get me wrong, I am so so proud of what myself and Team Super have achieved, but I’m posting this to tell you the truth about this last decade for me. And that is… it was hard af. I think when you acquire a little bit of success, people find ease in discrediting your effort. That’s why Twitter is literal hell. But that’s lazy. Look deeper. Don’t let the accolades and articles fool you, the girl on the left was confused, insecure, scared, had no direction and didn’t love herself…. and worst of all, she didn’t even know it. Work had to be done. Over the past 10 years I have hustled so hard both professionally and personally. I have hit rock bottom over and over again. I have addressed my weaknesses and excuses head on. I have overcome obstacles and then been introduced to new ones. I’ve been told “NO” repeatedly. I’ve been hit with sexism, racism and now homophobia, only to be told those things don’t really exist. I have learned the ins and outs of an entire industry that was foreign to me. I learned to be an employee and a boss. I learned to love me. I woke up every morning renewing a promise to myself to be the best version of me. And just like everyone else, I was the girl on the left. Know that anything you want is possible if you want it bad enough. Work hard and be nice to people. Everything else is a distraction. The haters, the non-believers, the excuses, the fear, the empty validation, the rejection… all of it is just noise. Mute it, love yourself, work hard and be everything you want to be. I believe in you so much. Thanks for believing in me ❤️

10 years in a nut shell #decadechallenge 🔄 2019 👉🏼 2010✨ ___________________ Holly looking back at old photos, I can’t help but laugh & reminisce 😅 Seeing the evolution of makeup & style is what I was so shocked about. The things I’m so thankful of is that I chose to drop the coloured contacts & the pencil thin brows 🤦🏽‍♀️! It’s funny when I posted my 10 year challenge in the beginning of this year, I got so many dms about getting plastic surgery & if I got my nose done. Honestly, it was me filling into my features & maturing- also learning how to appropriately apply makeup 💃🏽! • ________________________________________ These past few years i can’t be more thankful of. I was able to pursue my passion & learned so many things along the way. Building your own brand & business is one of the most challenging things because you don’t realize where to draw the line. You don’t realize when to separate business & personal life or even taking a personal break!! 🤷🏽‍♀️ i want to remind those that are trying to work towards their goals that nothing comes easy, you have to struggle & fight through the challenges. 🙌🏼 Through these 10 years, I went from trying to pursue the sciences & medicine, (because it was the “right” thing to do) to graduating university, to working in banking & finally standing my ground & putting my all into GlamByGilly 🥺 __________________ All I can say is try spending everyday accomplishing even a small goal of yours, being the best version of your self & honestly just making someone smile 💜 Happy #decade Everyone!! Thank you for the incredible support & allowing my dreams to become a reality! I wouldn’t be here without you guys 🙏🏽😭 ______________ . . . #glambygilly #2020 #2010 #decadechallenge2009to2019 #decadeinreview #newchapter #torontoblogger #torontomakeupartist #torontoartist #canadianmakeupartist #beautybloggers #influencer
